We went on a Monday and there were hardly any people there. The beach is very deep meaning there is a lot of beach between the parking area and the water line. The water also didn't appear to be a crystal clear as up our way. The beach wasn't dirty but it just wasn't as pretty as our white sand ones. We are used to pure white sand beaches along the Gulf Coast where we live. Now we don't have the patience to do that but we still enjoy walking the beach. We are in our 60s and in our younger years would lay on the beach sand all day. We feel that something as basic as our Florida beaches should be free to everyone and we were glad to see that Venice Beach is that way. Petersburg where all the Gulf Coast Beach Municipalities have implemented beach parking meters and some at very hefty prices like $3.25 an hour! Thank goodness we can afford it but we think of all the young families that could be hard stretched to pay over $20 to spend a day at the beach mom, dad and the kids. Set aside some time for a visit to Chioggia town, a sort of miniature Venice complete with canals and bridges.We live in St. Sottomarina is also an excellent spot for scuba diving and exploring the reef-like sediments known as tegnue, which throng with marine life. That said, if resorts are more your cup of caffè then you’ll have no problem finding one in Cavallino-Treporti. This is also a great destination for avid campers, with many campsites to use as a home base. You won’t find as many beachfront resorts as in Jesolo, and a good number of Cavallino-Treporti's beaches are free to access. But unlike Jesolo, the atmosphere of Cavallino-Treporti is less commercial and more easygoing. Much like Jesolo – and not too far from it – Cavallino-Treporti, sitting at the very tip of the peninsula that closes off the northernmost part of the Lagoon, is known for its Blue Flag-certified beach.
